Sam S. Mate Jr. graduated from the James Madison College at Michigan State University with a B.A. in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy in 2010. He attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and graduated with his J.D. in 2014. During law school, Mr. Mate clerked at a prominent insurance defense firm in Detroit dealing primarily with property loss and subrogation matters. Mr. Mate also worked as a student public defender, at the 52/4 District Court, under the guidance of his supervising attorneys, zealously representing and appearing on behalf of indigent client’s throughout their criminal prosecutions.
Upon graduation, he gained admittance to the Michigan Bar in 2014. Mr. Mate is also admitted to practice in the Eastern District Court of Michigan. Following admittance to the Michigan Bar in 2014, Mr. Mate joined a large, civil litigation firm where he successfully advocated for insurance companies in the defense of first and third-party No-Fault claims.
Mr. Mate joined Hackney Grover in November 2016, where he has continued his work in defense of claims for first and third-party benefits under the Michigan No-Fault Act.
