Zane Breithaupt


Zane J. Breithaupt graduated from Saint John’s University (MN) in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. While attending SJU, Zane had the privilege of playing football for legendary coach John Gagliardi and winning the 2003 Division III National Championship. After college, Zane worked briefly as a microbiologist before enrolling at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2010.

Zane is admitted to practice in State of Michigan (2018) and the State of Illinois (2010). He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel.

Zane works in the Troy office and focuses his practice on insurance defense litigation. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced at a civil litigation firm in Illinois, primarily in the areas of insurance defense, long-term care defense and medical malpractice defense. Zane also has experience representing financial and lending institutions in civil litigation.

In addition to spending time with family and friends, Zane enjoys traveling and sports. He is an avid fan of Michigan State University athletics and all things Detroit.  Zane was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan, where his grandfather was a highly regarded solo practitioner for over 35 years.
